In APRIL 2011, the RACHEL RAY SHOW called upon our Make-over Team at RED 7 SALON again to help them out! This time the scene wasn't an airport terminal, but a retail store! The day was set at Filene's Basement's annual "Running of the Brides" (http://www.filenesbasement.com/running-of-the-brides/). This "over-the-top" crazy event is a deeply discounted tag-team race to find the perfect wedding dress. Our challenge was to make-over 5 brides-to-be (hair/make-up) in order to compliment the wedding dress of their dreams! No pressure or anything;)
Our leader for the day, GRETTA MONAHAN (http://twitter.com/#!/grettamonahan), chose the perfect candidates - someone who needed/wanted a change and who deserved to be pampered. We met some wonderful women who had incredibly touching stories on their upcoming special day and why it means just so much to them. RED 7 SALON's Beauty Battalion performed inspiring make-overs from classic bridal looks to avant-guard to a super cute 1920's/30's look! Basically - we had a BLAST!
The segment is scheduled to air on MONDAY, APRIL 25, 2011. The wedding segment is set just in time for Britain's Royal Wedding coming up at the end of the week - inspiring all future brides with the possibilities.

RACHEL RAY wanted to talk to us...
RED 7 SALON reports...
Call us crazy, but when YUM-O queen of daytime tv called and wanted RED 7 SALON to perform dramatic make-overs on selected women in Chicago's Midway Airport - we said YES! Our GlamSquad worked with The Rachel Ray Show (http://www.rachaelrayshow.com/) on taping two segments (aired in October) in the Chicago area. The work was quite a challenge, but a whole lot of fun. Plus, we got to work with beloved Make-Up Goddess/Rachel Ray Correspondent/QVC Queen... Mally Roncal! What a hoot!
So, our day began at 4:30AM. We picked up our entire RED 7 SALON GlamSquad and headed off to Midway Airport to make our call time of 7:30AM. First, we had to grab coffee - needing caffeine badly! Then, we had to meet the segment producers at security and walk through together. Yes, even though we were working with Southwest Airlines, and even though Oprah's protege, Rachel Ray, was on our side - we still couldn't have anything larger than a travel-sized product! All of our shears and tools were able to get through (thank God) because we had a lot of work ahead of us. Off to make-over land...
We primarily worked in the Southwest Airlines terminal (turning a lot of heads) and had to set up a make-shift hair salon. Our first three make-over candidates were pre-selected by the show and the others were ambushed by Rachel's segment host, Mally Roncal. We did major changes on all. What's really great is that after the show taped, we received a wonderful thank you letter from one of our make-over candidates to thank us and to say that her haircut (done by our Master Stylist, David Kafer) CHANGED HER LIFE! Wow, that's so amazing - you know what I mean? It makes waking up before birds well worth it :)
Overall, the day was grueling, but a joy - we performed 6 major make-overs (only 3 making the show and the others hitting the editing floor) and were out of there at 7:30PM. Seeing as this was for TV, there was a lot of hurry up and wait, hurry up and wait. Honestly, we had never been in an airport for that long. We all needed a good stiff drink after the day was done. It was an amazing experience - fun, challenging, and educational. Thanks Rachel!
